BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE COMMONWEALTH:

Canada has been a member of the Commonwealth of Nations since its inception in 1931. The country played a significant role in the establishment of the Commonwealth and has actively participated in its activities.

INDEPENDENCE:

Canada gained full independence from the United Kingdom in 1982.
