BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE COMMONWEALTH:

Canada has been a member of the Commonwealth of Nations since its inception in 1931. The country played a significant role in the establishment of the Commonwealth and has actively participated in its activities.

INDEPENDENCE:

Canada gained full independence from the United Kingdom in 1982.

SIGNIFICANT ASPECTS: 

  • Cultural Diversity: Canada is known for its cultural diversity, with a rich tapestry of Indigenous, French, and British influences.
  • Natural Beauty: Canada is renowned for its stunning landscapes, including the Rocky Mountains, Niagara Falls and vast wilderness areas.  

 PARTICIPATION IN THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES

Canada has been actively participating in the Commonwealth Games since its inception. The Commonwealth Games serve as a platform for Canadian athletes to compete at an international level and foster sportsmanship.

Significant Aspects:

  • Winter Sports Excellence: Canada is known for its prowess in winter sports, and its athletes often excel in disciplines such as ice hockey, figure skating, and freestyle skiing.
